If you have never been to a symphony or opera you are missing a great part of life. The concept cannot be explained, it must be experienced in person. I try to go to the symphony as often as I can as I love great music. To listen to it on the radio or stereo is ok, but to experience it in person is magical.
I know the same thing can be said for concerts but the symphony is different. The symphony is not rock and roll, or country, or heavy metal, it is a cultural event, listening to music created by some of the worlds greatest composers. This is music written hundreds of years ago by men who understood the power of the musical note and decided to share their talent with the world. And the world is a better place because they lived.
Long after the Beatles and Madonna are gone, Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Pachelbel, and Beethoven (plus others) will still be around. Great music never dies, it just keeps giving the gift of pleasure.
Operas are also a great way to spend some quality time. While I admit I am not a total opera convert, there are a few that I have really enjoyed. I really liked Phantom of the Opera and want to see it again. But that is only one of several that I have seen, there are still a lot more I want to see.
If you want to have a great time, on a date, with a special someone, take them to either a symphony or opera. It will be will worth it, but don't quote me on that. Today's youth have absolutely no sense of greatness (just like me when I was their age). Still give it a try, the worse that can happen is she'll never date you again.
Now for the pros and cons of this page. For the pros I found a few links that affect the national level for both operas and symphonies. For the cons most operas and symphonies are at the local level and because it is impossible for me to visit, much less keep up with, what is playing in each town or city I had to settle for the national links. However on the Government page you can find links to cities if you drill down deep enough. Or you may just click on the TicketMaster link and find your city there.
So with that, click on the links above to visit the venue of your choice. And don't forget to dress for the occasion. Most operas and symphonies are not prone to Levis and tennis shoes. Besides something happens to the psyche when you really get "duded" up. You feel... empowered. And that is a really great feeling to have, because it means you are self-confident, self-assured, and have a great deal of self-respect for yourself.
As always each link opens in its own window.
At the time we created this page all the links were active and correct, however we are not responsible for any broken links that may have occurred since. If you find a link that is broken/inactive, please inform us so that we may make the appropriate corrections. We realize how frustrating it can be to think there is an active link only to find out that it is no longer functional. However, that said, these are established sites and unless one goes out of business the odds of them changing their links is highly unlikely.
